Couple of weeks ago me and Angus went out with the Cart and projected on the walls of QPAC. It was really exciting and fun and I believe we got a lot of people’s attention. I captured some really good moments of the night and with those photos hope to make some promotional work for TheCart itself!

If you’re a young person from the Bellbowrie / Moggill area wishing something more exciting was available for you to participate in, then join 4070 locals Karen and Amber, who have started a community driven push for youth events and activities in the area. This is a chance to get involved and help to make positive changes for young people in the community.

For more info, read more from Karen below:

If you are one of the many young people who live somewhere between Kenmore, Colleges Crossing and Moggill Ferry, you may have noticed the area is a bit quiet when it comes to fun, innovative, interesting stuff for 13 to 17 year olds outside of school time. Maybe you are older than this but have younger siblings or cousins still living in the area.

Here’s the challenge: If you are aged 17-25, interested in developing your skills in event planning, and have a love and passion for working with a younger crew, get together on the 28th May 2012 at Bellbowrie Sport and Rec Club from 7 pm to 9.30pm, to come up with ideas and start planning an event for 13-17 year old’s to be held in the 4070 area in July and then repeated again in September 2012.

Develop and practice skills in entrepreneurship, team work, planning, negotiating, networking and event management. Meetings will be fortnightly or more often, about two hours each week to pull it all together.

You will be supported by enthusiastic community leaders but most of the ideas and effort will come from you. If this sounds like something that is up your alley, contact Karen Soane by 12 May and an invite will be sent to you.

Please note: The information contained in this post has been provided by Karen Soane, and is posted by lowercase as a community announcement – for your information. lowercase are not currently involved in this initiative in any way.

Happy belated Easter, hope you guys enjoyed it – especially to all you sweet tooth’s out there.

So, I have to come up with a little project to work on – anything I want – and honestly I would prefer music but that’s just too easy – laughs. So I’m thinking of doing either some kind of stop-motion with an Original of one of my songs to make a kind of cartoon video clip, or… Well.. That’s all I’ve really got so far. I’m actually pretty excited. Along the way I will only expand and gain knowledge about the world of creative media.

I feel like I’m adjusting great, I may still be unsure on some of the things that go on within this region of work, but, I’m slowly getting there, I can even feel my mind state and my perspective on things grow and change for the better, and I’m actually really enjoying it.

Outside work life I may struggle but then I come to work, and I guess you can say that I get the chance to vent and express any frustration, confusion, pain, etc. through this line of work. At the end of every workday, I feel refreshed for another week.

This place allows me to grow, learn, gain opportunity and express at the same time. – Laughs – I’m not sure what else I can say, I love my job! It’s not only helping me career-wise, but it’s keeping me off the streets, and I couldn’t ask for more.

-Mariah.
