Bulimba Neighbourhood Plan

The Project:

Balmoral State High School and Lourdes Hill College students worked with Brisbane City Council to learn about town planning and to creatively explore what would make Bulimba District great in 2026. Human were asked to facilitate the process and produce the final DVD.

Our Process:

We worked with students and staff from the two high schools to explore ideas around neighbourhood planning. Students formulated interview questions and conducted ‘vox pops’ on the streets and in their schools. Additionally, art and animation workshops were facilitated to produce visual responses to the following questions:

1. What do you think the council can do to make being active in the Bulimba area more enjoyable?

2. Do you think Brisbane City Council provides enough ways to get around this area and is it effective?

3. Are you concerned with the state of the environment? What would your ‘clean, green’ neighbourhood look like?

4. How can this neighbourhood be improved in the future? What can Brisbane City Council do to make this happen?

The Outcome:

Brisbane City Council was so happy with the process and the final product, they asked us to roll out another project for their Active School Travel Program. Students and staff at Balmoral SHS and Lourdes Hill College gained a wide range of creative arts and video production skills as well as learning plenty about town planning.
