Grand Plaza Shopping Centre – Youth Behaviour Protocol

The Project

In September 2011, lowercase was engaged by Grand Plaza Shopping Centre, Browns Plains to develop a Youth Behaviour Protocol. The protocol was developed through a Peer Research and Consultancy process, working with young people to engage their peers, and other key stakeholders including Local Police representatives, Security Guards, Retailers, Centre Management and Customers.

The Process

The project was conducted in three key phases:

  1. Set-up and Preparation: Engaging a core “Project Crew”, brainstorming, development of interview questions and guidelines, equipment training and development of research plan with participants.
  2. Peer & Stakeholder Research: Documentation of views, opinions and ideas through a facilitated research process including: filming, recording and photography of interviews by and with young people and other key stakeholders.
  3. Collation of Data and Resource Development: Review of the data collected, and development of Behaviour Protocol with “Project Crew”.
The Outcome

Upon completion of the Workshops and Research, lowercase compiled the data collected and finalised the content for Behaviour Protocol. A final report was submitted listing key recommendations arising from the research. In Stage Two, the Human Design Team will work with lowercase to produce a Protocol Info Card and Booklet resource.
