Ipswich Art Gallery – Mashology Workshop
The Project
In September 2011, the Ipswich Art Gallery engaged lowercase to produce a Digital Video Workshop as a part of “Mashology”, the Gallery’s hip hop music and dance, contemporary art and Parkour festival.
The Process
The workshops focused on engaging young participants to film and photograph Parkour activities, portraits of participants, and Krumping activities throughout the day. The content was then remixed and projected onto a screen using the DanceMat (*link*), triggered by participants’ movements.
The Outcome
lowercase engaged young people throughout the day in filming, photography and editing workshops encouraging skills development, self expression, and creative output. The content created by the young people was then edited and fed through the DanceMat program, allowing all participants to interact with the images and sounds of the festival.
