The Project:

After working with Young Carers Project (Brisbane South) on a number of past projects with young carers, they asked us to help develop a booklet resource for Care Recipients – primarily parents of young carers.

Our Process:

Young Carers Project staff had been working with the parents group (care recipients) for a number of months developing written content for a booklet resource to help others in their situation.  lowercase developed a workshop process to assist the care recipients to edit the written content ready for publication, and to create visual content to represent their stories and feelings.

The Outcome:

The visual and written content were matched together by facilitators and participants into useful sections about dealing with schools, health service providers, teenagers and more, as well as some handy hints and tips.  The final content was then designed into the booklet, ‘Role Reversal – when your child becomes your carer’ by the Human Design Studio and printed for distribution by FSG.
